Junior Classes (ages 8 & 9)
We channel the growing passion and discipline of 8 & 9-year-olds through classes that strengthen their confidence, mine their ingenuity, and exploit their physical energy. We offer classes in modern technique, creative dance and ballet.
Junior Modern Technique
This 35-minute introduction to Modern Technique class will be rooted in a classical ballet vocabulary with a strong emphasis on torso articulation & expression. These classes will encourage alignment, form, coordination, musicality, strength, rhythm & kinetic intelligence. Live percussion accompanies each class. Taught by Janet Johnson.
Junior Improvisation/Composition
All students in this class also take Modern Technique, which immediately precedes this class and acts as an essential warm-up and grounding in precision. The class then moves into 35-minutes of experimental and process-oriented improvisation which will encourage students to take physical and creative risks while working cooperatively in a supportive group. Taught by Catrina von Radecki.
