Primary Classes (ages 6 & 7)
Paying homage to the broadening and deepening imaginations of 6 & 7-year-olds, as well as their physical restlessness, these classes aim to build on fundamental movement skills and to provide a rich environment where children explore their own unique way of moving while learning to dance cooperatively and imaginatively with others. For this age group, we offer classes in creative dance and ballet.
Primary Creative Dance
This class will focus on building strength, flexibility, and coordination and will provide an opportunity for children to dance freely using a variety of themes, which they will then use to create and perform short movement phrases. This class will be one-hour long and accompanied by live percussion (minimum 8 children required for a percussionist). Taught by Catrina von Radecki.
Details to know
- Because of the nature of the discipline, regular and punctual attendance is a must. Please arrive a few minutes prior to each class.
- Modern Dance Attire
- Hair off face and neck in whatever manner is preferred
- Girls: body suit and footless tights or footless unitard.
- No tee-shirts or sweat pants for technique classes.
- Boys: shorts or tights and tee-shirt.
- Please bring a labelled water bottle.
Parental involvement
- Regular viewing times will be organized for families and friends.
- Informal performances throughout the year will be held at Temple Studio.
- Final year-end performance at 6:30 pm on May 19, 2011 at the Guelph Youth Music Centre.
