GYD Summer Camp is mandatory for all company members born in 2002-1997. This 30-hour program will provide training in Conditioning, Ballet and Contemporary Technique. Dancers will also begin a new creation with Kate Hilliard (Toronto). This creation will be continued to be developed and performed in the 2016-2017 company season.
Please note that this Camp is for Company members only. If you are not a member and are interested in participating in only the conditioning and ballet classes please contact us for more information.
If you are a dancer born 2003 and earlier, please see Guelph Dance Camps http://www.guelphdance.ca/camp/summer-camps/. The Dance Focus Camp, for dancers born in 2003-2005 is not mandatory, but is highly recommended for all Apprentice Company members as dancers will begin a creative process with Julia Garlisi which will continue in the 2016-2017 season.

Teacher Biographies
Kate Hilliard is a Toronto based dance artist with a practice in creation, performance and teaching. She has worked with Ottawa’s Le Groupe Dance Lab, Montreal’s Fortier Danse-Création, Toronto’s Dancemakers, and Berlin’s Tino Sehgal performing his Kiss at the MoMA in New York City. Her choreography has been presented across Canada and abroad. Deeply committed to art education, Kate is thrilled to work with The Guelph Youth Dance.
Michelle Debrower was first introduced to formal dance training at the Town Hall of the farming community, Ridgetown, ON. Michelle became a member of the Windsor City Ballet Company and joined the company on both a tour of Italy and Japan. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours B.A. in Dance, cut off her ballet bun and moved to Toronto to continue her dance training at the School of the Toronto Dance Theatre. In the area of modern contemporary dance, Michelle has had the pleasure of working with choreographers Susan Cash, Pamela Grundy, David Earle, Denise Duric, Janet Johnson, Shannon Cooney, Julia Aplin, Learie McNicols, Michael Sean Marye and Serge Bennethan. Company Blonde was the brainchild of Michelle and since its inception in 1999 she has acted as choreographer, dancer and producer.
Michelle is certified teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance and a Pilates instructor. Michelle is an enthusiastic dance educator teaching in various Schools as well as running her own dance school – Swansea School of Dance – in the west end of Toronto.
