Janet Ragan

Janet started her career in movement coaching children in gymnastics, and she enjoyed it so much, after high school she chose to complete a two year diploma program in Gymnastics Coaching and Techniques at Seneca College.  Janet coached children and teens in  gymnastics for more than 20 years enjoying every minute.  Curious about the body and it’s function, Janet started a Human Kinetics program at Simon Fraser, and when her husband was transferred to Ontario they moved to Guelph and she transferred into the  Applied Human Nutrition at the University of Guelph where she received her B.A.Sc. Her love of children and teaching led to obtain Bachelor of Education in Jr/Intermediate Science from the University of Western Ontario, and she was able to teach primary physical education and eventually high school science.

While having her children she became a certified fitness instructor and taught pre/post natal fitness for many years to the Guelph community.  Her love of dance resulted in her adding dance moves to the regular fitness classes and they eventually they became pre/post natal Nia Technique classes.  Janet currently teaches Nia classes, and is now a Nia Black Belt instructor.

Recently Janet completed a 200 hour Hatha yoga teacher training program and has been teaching yoga for a little more than a year. Janet is passionate about  inspiring children and adults alike to be curious about the way their body moves, and to use their precious body to it’s fullest potential.  Moving, shaping and dancing like no one else is watching.
