Sarah is a dancer, educator and musician born and raised in Guelph, ON. As a proud alumni of the GYD Company, she is thrilled to be joining the teaching staff at GYD. Sarah began dancing at the age of 3, and has studied ballet, contemporary, jazz, Modern, lyrical and tap. She has worked with a variety of choreographers, including Sylvie Desrosiers, Mio Sakamoto, Janet Johnson (including as a guest performer in “The Returned” featured at the 2022 Guelph Dance festival), Kelly Steadman, Megan Robinson, Meghan MacNeil, Kween, Katie Ewald, and Evadne Kelly, among others.
Sarah is currently a student at the University of Guelph, and is working towards a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Child Studies and Neuroscience. She plans to pursue a career in education and teach at the elementary level upon the completion of her undergraduate degree. As a teacher, Sarah strives to create an atmosphere of inclusion, self expression, discipline and fun to ensure that all students put forth their best effort and thrive.
Outside of the studio, Sarah is an emergency supply teacher for the Upper Grand District School Board, Camp Manager for Guelph Dance, and tutors. In her spare time, she can be found experimenting in the kitchen, hanging out with family or friends, dreaming about her next vacation, or (most likely) curled up on the couch, reading.
Sarah is looking forward to another amazing year of dance, teaching and fun!
